Overview
The four course sequence specializing in early childhood education is designed to prepare candidates for meeting the unique needs of teaching children from birth to age 8.
Candidates with a multiple subject credential that wish to teach in the primary grades will find these courses helpful for meeting the challenges of young children in the classroom. Completion of the specialization classes may qualify these candidates for one of the following Child Development Permits offered through CCTC: Master Teacher Permit, Site Supervisor Permit or Program Director permit, depending upon the terminal degree.
Candidates with a Bachelor's degree, but without a multiple subject credential and/or a Master's degree, may take these 4 courses to obtain their Master Teacher or Site Supervisor Permit.
Candidates that hold a single subject credential may take these courses to add a Child Development subject specific supplementary authorization to their teaching credential.
Candidates wishing to participate in National Board Certification, focusing on the Early Childhood Generalist exam, may find these courses helpful.
