Graduation
Follow These Steps to Graduation Day
You are on your way to graduation! To help ensure a smooth graduation process, follow the steps below as you approach completion of your degree.
1. Complete Your Program Requirements
Successfully complete all classes required for your program and ensure that all additional program requirements have been met.
If you are unsure about your academic progress or remaining requirements, contact your academic counselor and finance counselor to review your progress and make sure you are on track to complete your program.
2. Confirm Your Mailing Address
Before completing your program, confirm that your mailing address on file is current and accurate. Your diploma will be mailed to the address on file following your degree conferral.
If you need to update your address, you can do so through your Student Portal. For additional support with updating your address, please email [email protected] or contact your academic or finance counselor.
3. Graduation Review and Degree Conferral
The graduation review process begins when you have 4 credits or fewer remaining in your program. At this point, your academic and finance counselor will complete an initial review of your academic progress and program requirements to help confirm that you are on track to complete your degree.
Once all requirements have been successfully completed, the graduation team will be notified and will conduct the final graduation review. Once these requirements are confirmed, your degree will be conferred.
No graduation application is required.
4. Receive Your Graduation Notification and Diploma
Once your degree has been conferred, you will receive notification confirming completion of the graduation process.
Your diploma will be automatically mailed approximately 8 to 10 weeks after your conferral date to the address on file. A link to your digital diploma will be sent to your NU student email address approximately 2 to 4 weeks after your conferral date.
Please note that your paper and digital diploma cannot be released if you have an outstanding financial obligation with the University. Once your balance has been cleared, please notify the graduation department at [email protected]. Include your name, student ID, and current mailing address in your email.
If you have questions about your balance, please contact Student Business Services at [email protected] or (858) 642-8041.
