Course Description: Es un estudio a fondo de las funciones gerenciales en la adaptación de las organizaciones al ambiente global. El curso enfatiza las características del entorno que hacen crítica la administración estratégica en el éxito de las organizaciones, incluyendo la evaluación de las fortalezas y debilidades organizacionales, la identificación de oportunidades y amenazas, la optimización de respuesta a eventos no planeados, y el análisis estratégico en entornos turbulentos. Analiza también los entornos socio-culturales, políticos, económicos, éticos, tecnológicos y de regulación que tienen impacto en los negocios de un entorno multicultural. El curso pone especial énfasis en el impacto del Tratado de libre comercio con Norteamérica (TLC) y el GATT (hoy OMC) en la administración estratégica de las empresas. Explora las oportunidades globales de negocio que surgen de las nuevas tecnologías, tanto para pequeñas como para grandes empresas.
Course Learning Outcomes:
  • Analizar la estrategia de una compañía, su posición comercial y la forma como puede adquirir una ventaja competitiva sostenible.
  • Evaluar la estructura del negocio, su estrategia, mercadeo, funciones financieras y de operación y funciones de administración general relacionadas.
  • Llevar a cabo una inspección estratégica en una variedad de industrias y situaciones de competencia, especialmente en ambientes de negocios globales.
  • Diseñar una estrategia de negocios, considerar varias alternativas de estrategias, utilizar el análisis de "qué si" para evaluar los cursos de acción alternativos y tomar e implementar decisiones estratégicas.
  • Ajustar las capacidades funcionales de una compañía a los factores del entorno responsables del éxito de organización.
  • Evaluar el rol o roles de los gerentes generales y los gerentes funcionales en la formulación de decisiones estratégicas y los procesos de organización por medio de los cuales se ejecutan las estrategias.
  • Evaluar el riesgo de negocios y desarrollar planes de acción orientados en los resultados.
