Dr. Mudasser F. Wyne joined National University as a full Professor in 2008 and has served as chair of Computer Science, Information and Media Systems Department since 2011. He has been in academics for 30 years, having worked in 6 countries and 8 different universities. During his time as a research fellow, Dr. Wyne worked with an MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) USA group, led by a Nobel laureate Prof. Semuel C. C. Ting for 2 years at High Energy Physics institute, DESY (Deutches Elecktronen Synchrotron), Hamburg Germany. He has Bachelor in Electrical Engineering, Master in Engineering from Pakistan and completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science from The University of Birmingham, UK with a focus on high performance database architecture.
Dr. Wyne is intimately involved with program development and streamlining in an effort to best align them with the future demands of academia. He has served as the Program Lead for MS in Information Technology Management, MS in Database Administration, BSc in Information Systems as well as being the Co-Program Lead for the MS in Computer Science. He served as the Chair of the Council of Chairs, Undergraduate Council Program review committee, Graduate Council Program review committee and School Academic Affairs committee. He also served as an active member of numerous task forces and committees at department, school and university level.
Dr. Wyne is associated with ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) US from 2001, as a certified program evaluator for BSc in Computer Science and BSc in Information Systems programs. He also served as a Commissioner for the Computer Accreditation Commission (CAC) and ABET Visit Team Chair for 5 years. He has also been involved in mentoring new ABET Visit Team Chairs and new ABET Program Evaluators.
On the research side, Dr. Wyne has secured numerous grants, served on number of international Ph.D. Thesis committees, been a member of the editorial boards for 8 international journals, and served as the Chair and Co-Chair for 14 international conferences. He has been invited to 24 international conferences as an Invited and Keynote Speaker, chaired panel discussions and numerous sessions at national and international conferences. He also served on more than 170 international conference program committees. Dr. Wyne has published more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. His current research interest include Database, program design, and accreditation. He is also a member of ACM, ASEE, ASEE/PSW and CSAB.
Dr. Wyne has received a number awards during his time at National University, including The 2013 NU Professoriate award, ABET appreciation award 2014 (for conducting difficult accreditation visit), and 2 Best authored paper awards. Last year he received the flagship William J. Fulbright Scholars award for 2015-16. The award is a distinguished international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government, awarded annually to only a select few candidates that excel in their field and demonstrate exemplary commitment to advancement of education, both locally and internationally.
