DEN429 Product Design Optimization

Lead Faculty: Dr. Ronald Uhlig

Course Description

This course focuses on analytical and empirical tools that allow designers and manufacturing engineers to predict the manufacturing and assembly cost estimates for optimized design.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand basic features of design for manufacturability.
  • Utilize opportunities of developing high-quality products for the lowest manufacturing cost.
  • Analyze major constraints and know-how in designing products for function, quality, reliability, maintainability, and benefits to the environment.
  • Contrast between different types of optimized design.
