Course Description

An instructional leader’s perspective on instructional theory, curriculum development, and assessment. Analysis of student academic content and curriculum standards, research-based instructional and assessment practices. Application of data to inform continuous school improvement. Evaluate and support professional development framed around collaboration and the principles of adult learning.

Learning Outcomes

  • Examine the implementation of K-12 standards, pedagogical skills, effective instructional practices and student assessments for content instruction.
  • Analyze research-based instructional practices, student assessments, and other school data to promote student learning and teacher professional growth.
  • Examine the school and community context, including the instructional implications of cultural/linguistic, socioeconomic, and political factors.
  • Analyze the concept of school-and-community communication regarding school-wide outcomes data and improvement goals.
