STEP Scholarship Terms and Conditions

National University (“NU”) is proud to offer the Seamless Transfer Education Pathway (STEP) Scholarship. Eligible community college transfer students who meet the criteria outlined below will receive a 20% tuition reduction.

NU reserves the right to modify, revise, or update these Terms and Conditions at any time. NU may, in its sole discretion, change or discontinue this scholarship at any time. Submission of application and enrollment serves as acknowledgment and acceptance of these Terms and Conditions, including any subsequent modifications.

Eligibility

To qualify for the STEP Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Transfer directly from a community college to NU.
  • Have completed at least one semester at a community college within the last five years.
  • Have never enrolled at a university prior to transferring to NU.
  • Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
  • Be pursuing an eligible undergraduate degree program (excludes programs with separate pricing models or special tuition structures).
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Award Details

  • Scholarship provides a 20% tuition reduction.
  • Cannot be combined (“stacked”) with any other NU scholarships, grants, or discounts.
  • Applies only to tuition; not redeemable for cash.
  • Available to newly enrolled and re-entry students, including those who previously withdrew, provided eligibility requirements are met.
  • Scholarship funding will not be retroactively applied; it only applies to the current term once eligibility is confirmed.

Maintaining Eligibility

  • Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0.
  • Students must not take a break between courses greater than 90 days, unless on an approved leave of absence.
  • Withdrawal or dismissal from NU terminates any remaining scholarship funds.
  • If a student withdraws from a course or earns a non-passing grade, the cost to retake the course will not be discounted by the STEP Scholarship.

Additional Terms

  • NU reserves the right to interpret, modify, or terminate this scholarship at its sole discretion.
  • NU and its affiliates are not responsible for typographical errors or administrative mistakes in scholarship processing.
  • Scholarship counts toward the student’s cost of attendance and may impact federal financial aid eligibility.
  • Courses taken under this scholarship may be reported on IRS Form 1098-T.
