Online Education

Quality Online Learning With You in Mind.

For over 20 years, National University has offered flexible online education programs designed for busy adult learners balancing work, family life, and military duties. With the convenience of online learning, you can wake up early to participate in online discussions, log in to study during your lunch hour, or complete your coursework late at night – whatever works for you and your schedule!

At NU, we offer over 90 degree programs that are available 100 percent online. These programs are delivered using the latest technology to provide dynamic, interactive online learning environments, accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

As an NU online student, you’ll have access to interactive tools that support your individual learning style. Online coursework includes lectures, readings, presentations, evaluations, quizzes, and exams. Throughout your program, you’ll collaborate with professors and classmates, working together to create a strong community within the online classroom.

Is Online Education the Right Choice for You?

Online education programs are the perfect choice for busy adults who work full time, have irregular schedules, are raising a family, serve in the military — or all of the above! Online learning is also a great option for students who don’t live near one of our campus locations.

One of the main benefits of online learning is convenience. As an online student, you’ll have the flexibility to complete your coursework at any time of day and at any location. All you need is access to a computer or tablet and Wi-Fi.

Keep in mind that it takes discipline, focus, and good time-management skills to be a successful online learner. While you’ll have established deadlines, it’s still up to you to set aside time to study, complete your assignments, and submit them on time. Some adult learners love the independence that online education programs afford; however, some prefer the structure of a traditional campus-based classroom.

The good news is that National University’s online education programs are the same high quality as its campus programs. National University is regionally accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), which means its online and on-campus degree programs measure to the highest educational standards. Many of our online degree programs are recognized by other accrediting bodies, including the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

What Makes National University Unique?

At National University, we’re proud to be San Diego’s largest, private nonprofit university, founded in 1971 by retired U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. David Chigos. Today, we educate adult learners across all 50 states and from 65 countries and have an alumni community of over 150,000 worldwide.

As an NU student, you can choose from over 100 degree, certificate, and credential programs in fields such as health care, business, education, engineering, law and criminal justice, and homeland security. As the top educator of educators in California, we have credentialed more teachers than any other California university.

Our flexible four-week classes are available online, at over 20 locations in California and Nevada, and on select military bases nationwide. Classes start every month, so you can start sooner and finish your degree faster. With year-round enrollment, you can transfer your previously-earned college credits and begin your program at any time. We also offer financial aid and scholarship opportunities to students who qualify.

We’re committed to serving those who serve by offering tuition discounts for military personnel and their dependents. As a Yellow Ribbon school, we accept the post 9/11 GI Bill®, so veteran and active-duty students pay virtually no out-of-pocket costs for their education. Military students have access to support from our Veteran Center, established to ease the transition from military to civilian life.

Whether you enroll in one of our on-campus or online education programs, you’ll have access to a host of student resources, including the National University System Library, writing and math centers, and our Student Concierge Services. Our dedicated teams of admissions, academic, and financial aid advisors will set you up for success and support you from day one to graduation day.
