Originally from New York, Bettina is an associate professor in the School of Professional Studies at National University where she is creator of and lead faculty for the MFA in Professional Screenwriting Program. Previously she taught at UCLA Extension in the Entertainment Studies Division and travelled internationally for them.

Her experience in the entertainment business includes having worked in production on independent and big budget films and in film development. For over eight years she was Managing Story Editor and served as a creative executive for HBO Films in Los Angeles. She is a nationally published journalist (Script Magazine) and received her MFA in Screenwriting from Columbia University film school in New York City.

Bettina is the recipient of the National University Professoriate Award for 2010 for excellence in teaching, the Presidential Scholars Award in 2011 and a 2011 - 2013 fellowship recipient for the COIL Initiative - an international online teaching collaborative with the State University of New York under the auspices of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEA). She resides in Los Angeles, California.
