CJA434 Survey of Forensic Sciences

Course Description

An introduction to the forensic sciences. Includes topics such as forensic photography, firearms and tool mark identification, the examination of questioned documents, hair and fiber analysis, serology, instrumental analysis, forensic pathology and odontology and forensic psychology.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify the principles and applications of various forensic disciplines including, but not limited to: (a) pathology (b) odontology (c) anthropology (d) serology (e) hair and fiber analysis (f) photography (g) questioned documents (h) entomology (i) psychology
  • Describe forensic science instrumentation.
  • Discuss the relationship between the forensic sciences and the criminal justice system.
  • Conduct a research project in forensic science related disciplines.
