Intro to Digital Audio
Course Description
Covers technical aspects of sound recording and postproduction for video and digital media. Principles of acoustics, microphones, and digital recording technology. Proper techniques of field recording on digital video cameras and digital audio recorders, the audio post workflow. Introduction to audio editing and mixing software.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify the audio functions in a digital audio software program.
- Organize an audio editing workspace.
- Summarize the audio postproduction workflow.
- Use a digital audio software program to import digital audio files from a variety of sources, construct sound sequences for media content, adjust levels, equalize and export mixed digital tracks to a variety of formats for incorporation into media programs.
Requirements
Students need access to a digital audio editing software such as Protools and/or Adobe Audition and an external hard drive
