Personal Information
Edna Bacate-Domingo, PhD, RN, was born in the Philippines. She is married to Efren D. Domingo with three daughters. All daughters are nurses. The oldest daughter is a practicing FNP at the Veterans Hospital; the second daughter holds her Master of Physician Assistant degree, did her residency in OB at the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and now works as MPA-C in a Family clinic. The third daughter is still finishing her RN degree at Southern Adventist University in Tennessee. Edna obtained her Bachelor of Science in nursing degree at PUC and became a nursing faculty at her Alma Mater. An extension MSN program of Loma Linda University at the Adventist University in the Philippines allowed her to attend graduate school for Master of Science in Nursing as a full time scholar of PUC.

Edna and her family immigrated to the United States in 1987. She joined Loma Linda University Medical Center Pediatric ICU to sharpen her nursing skills. She then was promoted to the nurse manager’s role of the acute pediatric unit. Edna’s passion was teaching that made her decide to move to academia. She taught nursing at San Bernardino Valley College and Victor Valley College for six years. Furthering her teaching career in nursing, she joined California State University San Bernardino and taught there for 10 years until she retired in 2007. While teaching at CSUSB, she was awarded the CSUSB faculty doctoral incentive, a highly competitive endeavor that funded her doctoral studies at the University of San Diego. In 2004, she opened an NCLEX Review Center that targeted graduate nurses who speak English as a second language (ESL) and nurses having difficulty passing NCLEX. In 2006, she joined Azusa Pacific University as an assistant professor and taught the second career degree program for two years. In 2008, AUHS offered Edna a position as the interim assistant dean and taught nursing subjects at the same time. At present, Edna is with National University as an assistant professor.
