Qualifying referrals will be awarded a $1,000 tuition scholarship*. As a thank-you, you’ll receive a $50 NU Store gift card for each new and eligible name you provide.
How to Earn a $50 NU Gift Card

Generate Your Referral Link
You must complete the form below and click Refer Now to participate in the referral process. An NU email address is required.

Student Applies
Share your link with the student you wish to refer. The student must not have previously applied or enrolled at NU.

You Get Rewarded
Once you refer a new student, you’ll receive a $50 gift card to the NU Store.

Referral Rewards
1. Gift Card Issuance
The referral gift card reward will be issued to the referrer after we receive each referred student’s application.
2. Gift Card Redemption
The referral gift card reward must be redeemed within 90 days of making the referral.
3. Scholarship Award
The Referral Scholarship reward will be applied to new students’ accounts after successful registration and progression in their first course past the add/drop deadline.
4. Tuition Reduction
The tuition scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded in installations of $250 for the new student applicant’s first four courses.
5. Start Deadline for New Student
The referred student must start within 90 days of being referred.
6. Referral and Enrollment Verification
Referral and enrollment verification will be completed for both referrers and referred before rewards are issued.

Who May I Refer?

Can I refer someone who previously applied to NU?
No, the referral link must be shared before the new student submit their NU application. Referrals are not valid for students who have previously submitted applications, received admission offers, or enrolled in a program.
Can I sign up to refer if I am not yet a NU student?
You must have already been admitted to the university and have a valid NU email address to become a referrer.
How do I make referrals?
Sign up using the Refer a Friend form and send the referral link you receive via email to your friends and family.
What is the Referral reward?
The person who makes a referral will receive an NU store gift card with a total value of $50 per referral. The student who was referred will receive a tuition scholarship valuing $1,000, which is applied in four installments of $250 to their first four courses at NU after starting in the first 90 days of being referred, if terms and conditions are met.
Who is eligible for the referral gift card reward?
Current NU students or alumni who share their referral link, which leads to completion of a NU application, are eligible for the referral gift cards.
Who is eligible for the Referral Scholarship reward?
New students who apply to NU for the first time using a referral link, register for classes, and begin their first course at NU past the drop course deadline is eligible for the Referral Scholarship. The new student must start within 90 days of being referred.
When will I receive my reward?
The person making their referral will receive their reward after their friend or family completes and application to NU using the referral link. The student being referred will receive their reward after the deadline to drop a class at NU, following the start of their first course within 90 days of being referred.
How do I get my reward?
Students and alumni who have made referrals will receive an email with their referral gift card redemption code. Newly referred students who have enrolled at NU will receive their referral tuition reduction scholarship applied directly to their student accounts.
How long after referring do I have to redeem my referral gift card?
The referral gift card expires after 90 days of making the referral.
How long after being referred is my family or friend eligible for the scholarship?
The referral scholarship is valid for referred students who apply, are admitted, and enrolled within 90 days from the date of the referral.
Can my friend or family get the Referral Scholarship if I send them the link, but they forgot to use it, yet still apply to NU without the referral link?
No, you will not be eligible for the referral gift card and your friend or family will not be eligible for the Referral Scholarship. You must use the form below and your family or friend must apply to National University using the link that you send them.
