The National University System Launches New Innovation Grant Program

The National University System has launched an exciting new Innovation Grant Program that encourages faculty and staff to develop innovative strategies and approaches to support the exceptional student experience and student success. Following a rigorous evaluation process, 23 proposals were awarded Innovation Grants to develop projects this academic year, and the awardees recently gathered at NUS headquarters in La Jolla, Calif. to officially begin the project development process.

Jeff Rivero, an alumnus of National University’s Sanford College of Education, recently traveled to the White House to accept the Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators. Each year the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) presents this national award to teachers who integrate innovative environmental curriculum into their classrooms.

National University System Showcases Robotics and Human-Powered Vehicle at Maker Faire San Diego, Oct. 1-2

Robots, racetracks, and a modified human-powered vehicle, developed by students who are part of the National University System, will be among the featured projects at the Maker Faire San Diego on October 1-2 in Balboa Park. National University congratulates alumni who are being honored as a 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year in school districts throughout California and around the country. As of the end of September, at least ten alumni of the University’s Sanford College of Education have been named county Teacher of the Year in California alone. This includes three of the five finalists in San Diego County, as well as four of the 16 finalists in Los Angeles County.
