Veteran-founded academic institution strengthens staff training and resources for enhanced support of military-connected students
SAN DIEGO, CA (Sept. 14, 2023) – National University (NU), a Veteran-founded nonprofit university serving 40,000 students nationwide, announces its partnership with PsychArmor, the San Diego-based nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening education support for the U.S. armed forces, Veterans, and their families across the nation. This strategic collaboration highlights NU’s resolute commitment to fortify educational culture and career outcomes for military-connected professionals.
With a team of nationally recognized experts, PsychArmor addresses crucial topics encompassing military life, mental health, suicide prevention, caregiving, and post-military careers by providing an authentic perspective across a full spectrum of military-connected experiences. The partnership will further enrich NU’s deep understanding of the struggles, aspirations, and education requirements of active-duty military personnel, Veterans, and their families. It strives to provide exceptional support that seamlessly aligns with NU’s “Supporting the Whole You” campaign.

Founded in 2013, PsychArmor provides evidenced-based content and training to individuals and institutions that want to more effectively support or genuinely engage with military and Veteran populations. Their mission bridges the gap between military and civilian cultures, heightening awareness and understanding of the distinct challenges and unique strengths of the military community.
During a recent NU Alumni Speaker Series, Dr. Heidi Squier Kraft who serves as PsychArmor’s chief clinical officer and is a U.S. Navy Veteran once deployed to Iraq, delves into the organization’s popular cornerstone course, “15 Things Veterans Want You to Know.”
