2007-04-09 National University System Joins NASILP

La Jolla, Calif. – The National University System has been welcomed into the National Association of Self-Instructional Language Programs (NASILP), it was announced today.

NASILP is North America’s only professional organization specifically established for the fostering of self-managed academic programs in the less-commonly taught languages (LCTLs). Approximately 124 universities, colleges, and school districts in the United States and Canada are affiliated with NASILP. An estimated 6,500 students enroll in NASILP-related academic programs each fall. NASILP is housed at the College of Humanities at the University of Arizona.

NASILP provides channels through which the Association’s members share their special concern and expertise. NASILP is a member of The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). It is an organizational affiliate of the Joint National Committee for Languages and the National Center for Languages and International Studies (JNCL/NCLIS) and a founding member of the National Council of Organizations of Less Commonly Taught Languages (NCOLCTL) headquartered at the National Foreign Language Center (NFLC).
