2005-09-15 Debra Bean named Dean of School of Media and Communication

La Jolla, Calif. – Debra Bean has been named Dean of the School of Media and Communication, National University System Chancellor  Dr. Jerry C. Lee announced today.

Bean brings more than 20 years of experience in education and as a communications executive with her to National University. Most recently, she was an Associate Dean in the School of Media Arts at Columbia College in Chicago, a premier visual, performing, media, and communications arts college with 10,000 students in an urban campus environment serving traditional and non-traditional students.

Bean has also held positions with various marketing and communications-based companies, including twohundredtwelve, VSA Partners, Inc., Quantum Leap Communications, Editel, and Independent Programming Associates.

Bean earned a Master’s of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado.
