Ms. Kathleen Grace, Mr. Herbert Meistrich and Ms. Diana Nyad to serve as trustees
La Jolla, Calif. — National University, California’s second-largest private, nonprofit institution of higher learning, announced today the naming of Ms. Kathleen Grace, Mr. Herbert Meistrich and Ms. Diana Nyad to its Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees oversees and plays an integral role in shaping the quality and character of National University as well as steering its future course. Trustees are recognized leaders in their communities and individually respected in the fields of business, education, law, the arts, and media and communication. Ms. Grace, Mr. Meistrich and Ms. Nyad will join the board effective immediately.
“The expertise of Ms. Grace, Mr. Meistrich and Ms. Nyad in their respective fields will further strengthen National University’s commitment to quality educational opportunities,” said Dr. Jerry C. Lee, Chancellor of the National University System and President of National University. “They will bring a wide-range of professional and personal skills which are sure to meet the high standards set forth by the members of this distinguished group.”
Mr. Meistrich is the owner of two companies; TaylorMade Performance Labs and BumperMedic. He has more than 40 years of experience in all aspects of real estate and venture capital investments, including acquisitions, site selection, design, development, financing, operations, site management and disposition strategy. He also has significant expertise in direct hotel management and as chairman of hotel policy committees with Westin, Hyatt Regency, Hilton, Registry and independent properties. In addition to his business management experience, Mr. Meistrich is also a renowned speaker, professor and author.
Ms. Grace is the founder of Kate Grace Physical Therapy, a Medicare Rehab Agency which treats a wide variety of patients with acute and surgical orthopedic injuries, postural dysfunctions and athletic and industrial injuries of the spine and extremities. Her clients include professional football players, golfers and tennis players, Olympic cyclists, amateur ice skaters, marathoners and tri-athletes. A licensed physical therapist, Ms. Grace also serves as a surgical assistant at numerous hospitals in San Diego.
Ms. Nyad is heard by eight million people each week on National Public Radio as a columnist for “All Things Considered” and a sports business reporter for the award-winning show “Marketplace.” On television, Ms. Nyad appears on the prestigious CBS News Sunday Morning program. Ms. Nyad was the Senior Correspondent for FOX Sports News (1996-2001) and for 10 years she held the record for the longest swim in history. She was inducted into the National Women’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1986.
