NSG442 Leadership and Management

Course Description

This 8 week course provides for the study of leadership and management principles as they apply to the delivery of quality health care and professional nursing practice. Models and concepts will be identified and explored as the nurse learns the importance of leading within the climate of a changing healthcare environment.

Learning Outcomes

  • Apply leadership concepts, skills and decision making to quality healthcare, team coordination, oversight and accountability in a variety of healthcare settings.
  • Demonstrate leadership and communication skills to effectively implement patient safety and quality improvement initiatives within the context of the interprofessional team.
  • Analyze financial implications related to healthcare delivery, reimbursement, access, and national initiatives.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of imaginative and creative strategies to enable systems to change.
