2006-09-13 San Diego 6 to Air on ITV Channel 16

Fast-paced television show will promote health, exercise and nutrition for children

San Diego, Calif. – The first episode of “San Diego 6,” a fun, fast-paced television show promoting health, exercise and nutrition for children, will begin airing Sunday night on County-owned ITV, Channel 16, National University System Chancellor and National University President Dr. Jerry C. Lee announced today.

The San Diego 6 – Paige, James, Kacey, Alexis, Dante and Kristy – are students ranging from ages 9-12 who along with their young mentor, Cheri, will introduce viewers to San Diego while stressing the importance of active and healthy lifestyles.

Episode one will air on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 6:00 p.m. and will be re-broadcast on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 p.m. In episode one, the San Diego 6 learn life lessons during a trip to the Pro Kids Golf Academy and visit a local farmer’s market as well as the Quail Botanical Gardens to learn about how and where fruits and vegetables grow. The San Diego 6 also learn from Chef Andrew how to prepare a delicious and healthy recipe with the episode’s mystery fruit.

Episode two will air on the following Sunday, Sept. 24 at 6:00 p.m. and will be re-broadcast at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26. In the second episode, the San Diego 6 interview Olympic Athletes to learn about motivation and training and how kids can strive to be future Olympians. They also learn about the differences between fruits and vegetables and prepare another healthy recipe with Chef Andrew.
