Welcome to the Office of the President! As president, it is our goal to ensure students are receiving an education that is among the most rigorous, relevant, and rewarding in higher learning. In addition to the focus on quality, access, and affordability, we also believe in encouraging collaborations that serve the public good and look for ways to weave that into our program offerings. Overall, we look to deliver an exceptional student experience that prepares you for life post-graduation.
With roots in academic innovation, National University remains focused on providing students with state-of-the-art learning experiences. The university offers more than 100 programs that are available either completely or partially online, allowing students locally, nationally, and globally to pursue a broad range of degrees and credentials. Our university is enriched by the extraordinary, diverse faculty and
staff and also by our unique student population that represents a wide range of backgrounds from working professionals to military personnel.

About the President
Dr. David W. Andrews has been president of National University since April 2016. Dr. Andrews brings more than three decades of higher education experience in a range of academic and educational leadership posts.
Prior to coming to National University, Dr. Andrews was dean of the School of Education at Johns Hopkins University. During his tenure, the school established a reputation for quality that earned it U.S. News and World Report’s #1 ranking of Graduate Schools of Education two years in a row. While at Johns Hopkins he helped found the nonprofit organization Dean’s for Impact in Education and lead the design and build of the first new public school (Pre-K-8) in East Baltimore in over 25 years.
Prior to his work at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Andrews led a merger that resulted in the creation of the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University and was the new college’s founding dean. His scholarly work has focused on intervening in the life course of high-risk students.
At National University, Dr. Andrews is guiding an initiative that is reconstructing the way that higher education serves students through personalized learning approaches. By leveraging the latest in adaptive and interactive technologies and tailoring academic models to individual student needs, the goal is to reinforce and advance the university’s commitment to the highest standards of excellence for student support and success.
Dr. Andrews holds a bachelor’s in psychology at Auburn University, master’s from Kansas State University in child development, and a Ph.D. in Child Development from Florida State University.
