Criminal Offenders – Forensic Psychology
Course Description
An examination of the nomenclature of mental disorders, diminished capacity, and insanity defenses, involuntary commitment, mental competency to stand trial, mentally disordered sex offenders, psychological and psychiatric testing and assessment of criminal offenders.

- Describe the legal and psychological issues involved in competency to stand trial, diminished capacity, and insanity defenses.
- Describe the legal and psychological issues involved in involuntary commitment.
- Evaluate the current state-of-the-art psychological and psychiatric testing.
- Evaluate the testimony of ‘experts.’
