Course Description

Understanding of solid waste; its characterization, production, storage, collection and transportation. Transportation, monitoring, storage, minimization, treatment and disposal. Exploration of toxicology from multiple functional levels, measuring toxicity and assessing risk, respiratory toxicology, and toxic wastes and remediation technologies.

  • Classify solid waste, its characterization, production, storage, collection and transportation.
  • Evaluate statutes and regulations for managing hazardous waste material.
  • Analyze the identification, transportation, monitoring, storage, minimization, treatment and disposal of hazardous waste material.
  • Compare the elements of human health risk assessment and the requirements of ecological assessment.
  • Evaluate the basic concept of fate and transport of contaminants in each terrestrial media (air, land, and water).
  • Compare HAZCOM and HAZWOPER requirements and describe the regulatory differences.
  • Analyze the elements of CUPA inspection, ASTM standards, and elements of Site Assessment.
