Extended learning is committed to providing personal and professional enrichment opportunities by offering innovative and cost effective programs and resources to a diverse community in an evolving global environment.

Dr. Roxanne Kymaani, Executive Director

Dr. Kymaani has been with National University for nearly 10 years, and has been the executive director for the Division of Extended Learning since 2014. She is responsible for developing, leading, and managing the University's non-degree educational services (academic credit and non-credit bearing), including continuing education and other learning programs. She is responsible for strategic planning, budgetary, and operational oversight directed toward growth, revenue generation, and value-added programs and services. She oversees curricular development, and delivery, and administrative, fiscal, and corporate/community partnership initiatives to meet the goals of the Division as they contribute to the University.

Dr. Kymaani is a certified core adjunct faculty in National University’s Graduate Organizational Leadership program. She received her doctorate in leadership studies from the University of San Diego. Dr. Kymaani is also a certified life coach and dialogue facilitations trainer, and a faculty coach for Rise San Diego.

Sarah Spicci, Director of Continuing and Professional Education

Sarah has worked in higher education for more than 15 years. Prior to joining National University in September 2014, Sarah held positions at UC San Diego and the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. She also worked at a corporate university SAIC, developing partnerships with other universities to offer onsite master’s programs to employees.

Sarah has a Bachelor of Science in leadership from the University of Indianapolis and a Master of Science in organizational leadership from National University.

Sarah is actively involved in many community organizations. She has served on a number of boards and committees including the Association for Talent Development (ATD).

Francisco Martinez, EMS Program Director

Francisco has been with National University for nearly five years, during which time, he served as lead faculty and regional director of the EMT program, and has been serving as senior director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Regional Operations since July 2015. He is an experienced educator, speaker, operations manager, licensed paramedic, and professional marketing consultant with a background in developing, implementing, and directing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies.

In his senior director role, Francisco draws from his 15+ years of experience in marketing, operations, logistics, and EMS management. He is focused on cultivating National University’s current EMS portfolio, which includes: EMT programs in San Diego, San Jose, and Fresno, along with American Heart Association (AHA) and National Association of EMT (NAEMT) continuing education (CE) courses.

Francisco is part of the AHA Southwest Regional Faculty and Training Center Faculty, and is a course director. He holds instructor-level certifications in: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Pre-hospital Trauma Advanced Life Support (PHTLS), and BLS (CPR).

Francisco is instructor level 1 and 11 certified by the National Association of EMS Educators. He has attended seven formalized training programs on the topics of supply chain, operations, and logistics, and has received six formal awards for commendable actions in the fields of operations, logistics, and EMS.

Francisco holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in marketing from National University.

Cody Rogers, Principal EMS Instructor

Cody is a California-certified paramedic, who has worked in EMS systems and fire departments for more than 10 years, and has been an EMS educator for more than six years. Prior to joining National University, he worked for multiple fire departments, ambulance companies, and EMS colleges, including: Mt. Laguna Fire Department, Pacific Ambulance, Mercy Ambulance, Clive Fire Department (Des Moines, IA), Escondido Fire Department, Mercy College of Health Sciences, EMSTA College, Sharp Healthcare’s Cardiac Training Center, and Children’s Hospital Cardiac Training Center.

Cody completed fire science and general education courses at Mercy College of Health Sciences in Iowa, Miramar College in San Diego, and at the Fire Fighter 1 Academy at The Academy, South Bay Regional Safety Training. He is currently attending National University, working towards a bachelor’s degree in business management, and plans on pursuing at a master’s degree in public health.

Kaila Mangrum, Operations Manager

Kaila has worked in higher education the past five years. Prior to joining National University, she worked for the University of San Diego’s Women’s Basketball Department as the director of operations. She earned both a Bachelor of Arts in theatre arts and a Master of Arts in leadership studies from the University of San Diego.

As operations manager, Kaila is committed to creating a positive work environment and providing great customer service internally and externally.

Keil Miller, Program & Events Coordinator

Keil holds a Master of Arts in higher education leadership with a specialization in student affairs from the University of San Diego, and a Bachelor of Arts in communications from California State University San Marcos.

Keil is dedicated to a student-centered approach in order to help people achieve their personal, educational, and professional goals.

Brandon Rivera, Student Services Coordinator

Brandon has a Master of Arts in communication from San Diego State University, a Bachelor of Science in women’s and gender studies from Northern Arizona University, and a Bachelor of Science in political science from Northern Arizona University. Prior to joining National University, Brandon was one of the speech and debate coaches at San Diego State University and competed collegiately at Northern Arizona University.

Brandon has worked in higher education for the past four years and is dedicated to a student-centered approach. His goal is to create a relationship with students in order to help them achieve their dreams through education.

Lily Duong, Student Services Coordinator

Lily is an alumni of San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. Prior to joining National University, she was an employment training advisor for the Welfare-to-Work program at Public Consulting Group. She has also worked as an academic coach at Helix Charter High School.

Lily is passionate about helping students find their pathway to success through education.

Faith Beiderbecke, Assistant to the Executive Director

Faith has worked in higher education since 2010. Prior to joining National University, she worked at Central Texas College in Rota, Spain as a field representative and served in the United States Navy for four years as an intelligence specialist.

Faith holds a Bachelor of Science in human resource management from the University of Maryland and will complete her Master of Science in organizational leadership at National University in May 2017.
