Dr. Roxanne Kymaani, Executive Director

Dr. Kymaani has been with National University for over 8 years, and has been the Executive Director for the Division of Extended Learning since 2014. She is responsible for developing, leading and managing the University's non-degree educational services (academic credit and non-credit bearing) including continuing education and other learning programs. She is responsible for strategic planning, budgetary and operational oversight directed toward growth, revenue generation and value-added programming and service. She oversees marketing, curricular development and delivery, administrative, fiscal and corporate/community partnership initiatives to meet the goals of the Division and the University.

Dr. Kymaani is a Certified Core Adjunct Faculty in National University’s Graduate Organizational Leadership program. She received her doctorate in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego.

Sarah Spicci, Director of Academic Partnerships

Sarah has worked in adult and continuing education for over 15 years. Prior to joining National University in September 2014, Sarah worked for UC San Diego Extension for 7 years. Sarah has held other university positions including with the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Additionally, she has worked in a corporate university for Leidos (formerly SAIC).

Sarah has a Bachelor of Science in Leadership from the University of Indianapolis and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from National University. She has also completed numerous continuing education classes.

Sarah is actively involved in many community organizations and has also been involved in serving on boards, committees and developing partnerships with multiple professional associations throughout San Diego.

Francisco Martinez, EMS Program Director

Francisco is an experienced educator, speaker, and professional marketing consultant with a background in developing, implementing and directing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies.

Francisco has over 15 years of management and marketing experience, including working within the non-profit and higher education arenas. He specializes in: Google analytics, winning content, Facebook marketing, like campaigns, social ROI, Twitter, mobile marketing, and web design.

In his consulting role, Francisco focuses on helping all size businesses formulate and execute marketing and communications strategies that showcase brand stories in their best light, encouraging target audiences to connect with brands in a way that resonates with their buying decisions.

Francisco believes the best marketing consultants are those that look at all facets of the marketing mix and are capable of looking at business strategies and delivering marketing plans that support the overarching business goals. Francisco ensures to deliver tailored marketing solutions that meet individual business needs.

Francisco holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from National University and will finish his Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing in April 2016.

Cody Rogers, Principal EMS Instructor

Cody is a California certified Paramedic, who has worked in EMS Systems and Fire departments for more than 10 years and has been in EMS education for more than 6 years. Prior to joining National University, he has worked for multiple Fire Departments, ambulance companies and EMS colleges including: Mt Laguna Fire Department, Pacific Ambulance, Mercy Ambulance, Clive Fire Department (Des Moines, IA), Escondido Fire Department, Mercy College of Health Sciences, EMSTA College, Sharp Healthcare’s Cardiac Training Center and Children’s Hospital Cardiac Training Center.

Cody has completed a multitude of Fire Science courses and general education courses through Miramar College, Mercy College of Health Sciences and through a Fire Fighter 1 academy. He is currently attending National University, working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and plans on progressing to a Master’s degree in Public Health.

Cody is passionate about EMS Education and bettering the future of EMS, but also enjoys life outside of work. Some of his hobbies include golfing, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.

Matthew J. Vallejo, Program Analyst

Matthew J. Vallejo joined National University’s Extended Learning team on August 17, 2015, where he serves as a Program Analyst. Prior to joining Extended Learning, Matthew served as the Vice President of Financial Aid and Services for Ashford University.

As a Program Analyst, Matthew will conduct a strategic review of Extended Learning’s academic certificates. This includes collecting historical data, assessing future market viability, engaging alumni and educating faculty and staff about Extended Learning’s capabilities. In addition, Matthew will research industry changes and track issues as it pertains to each individual certificate. In cooperation with the Executive Director, the Director of Academic Partnerships, University Faculty and staff, Matthew will identify and monitor emerging issues and trends in these fields, assess implications for professionals and work collaboratively to build new programs to meet these requirements.

Matthew has a rich and diverse background. Having worked directly with students, parents, faculty, and administrators, he has managed large, highly regulated federal and state aid programs, led complex, multi-regional operations, and assessed products, services and operational effectiveness within organizations.

Matthew’s experience in higher education was gained from work at Bridgepoint Education, Ashford University, Arizona State University, DeVry University, Apollo Group, and Mesa Community College. Additionally, he gained additional finance, analytics, strategic planning and operational experience from work at education lenders such as Southwest Student Services Corporation, Chela Education Financing, Goal Financial, and consumer reporting agency CoreLogic.

Matthew earned his M.A. in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix, and his M.Ed. in Counseling and BA in Liberal Studies from Northern Arizona University.

Kaila Mangrum, Operations Manager

Kaila has worked in higher education the past 5 years. Prior to joining National University, she worked for the University of San Diego’s Women’s Basketball Department as the Director of Operations. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from University of San Diego and a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego.

As the Operations Manager, Kaila is committed to creating a positive work environment and providing great customer service internally and externally. She enjoys working with faculty through the hiring process.

Keil Miller, Student Services Coordinator

Keil has a Master of Arts in Higher Education Leadership with a specialization in Student Affairs from the University of San Diego and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from California State University San Marcos.

Keil is dedicated to a student-centered approach in order to help people achieve their personal, educational, and professional goals.

Faith Beiderbecke, Assistant to the Executive Director

Faith has worked in higher education for more than 4 years. Prior to joining the National University System, she worked at Central Texas College in Rota, Spain as a Field Representative and served in the United States Navy for 4 years as an Intelligence Specialist.
