Grand Opening of Sanford Education Center at National University Marks National Expansion of Programs Benefitting Nonprofit and Education Sectors
National University, the 2nd largest private, nonprofit institution of higher education in California, announces the grand opening of the Sanford Education Center and the national expansion of research-based initiatives aimed at empowering nonprofit leaders, educators and others serving the public good. The Center is made possible through the generous support of philanthropist and businessman Denny Sanford. Also part of today's grand opening, National University is announcing three key milestones. The University is collaborating with Long Island University to expand to the East Coast the Sanford Harmony Program, which encourages positive relationships between girls and boys at the Pre-K through 6th grade. In addition, elements of the Sanford Inspire Program have been incorporated into National University's own teacher programs, and the Sanford Institute of Philanthropy is expected to launch a Master of Arts Degree in Cause Leadership in Spring 2015. Former President of The San Diego Foundation, Bob Kelly, Named Executive-in-Residence at National University's Sanford Institute of Philanthropy
San Diego, Calif. - Sept. 15, 2014 - National University, California's second-largest private, nonprofit university, announces the appointment of longtime philanthropic organization leader Bob Kelly as Executive-in-Residence with the Sanford Institute of Philanthropy, part of the Sanford Education Center. Mr. Kelly, who served for 20 years as President of The San Diego Foundation, will contribute to the development and implementation of the Institute's planned offerings in seminars, certificates and master's degree programs. Dr. Sharon M. Lightner to Lead Newly-Created Department of Accounting at National University
San Diego, Calif. – Sept. 9, 2014 - National University announces the appointment of Dr. Sharon M. Lightner, the former Dean of the College of Business Administration at California State University in San Marcos, to lead the development and management of a newly-formed Department of Accounting within the School of Business and Management. Dr. Lightner brings vast educational leadership experience to her new post, having served for seven years as the William E. Cole Director of the Charles W. National University Receives $1.05 Million Federal Grant to Enhance Veteran Preparation for Nursing Careers
San Diego, Calif. - Aug. 28, 2014 - As the nation faces an urgent need for more trained nursing professionals, National University announces the creation of the Accelerated Track for Vets to BSN (V2BSN) Project that is being launched to provide veterans interested in nursing careers with academic and professional support through a three-year $1.05 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. National University Student Awarded National Scholarship for Women Pursuing Information and Cyber Security Careers
San Diego, Calif. - August 14, 2014 - Sherri Pearlman, a former Marine Corporal pursuing her master's degree at National University, has been named one of 11 recipients of the Women Studying Information Security (SWSIS) scholarship program, which aims to increase the number of women pursuing careers in information security-related fields.
