Clinical Concepts II
Course Description
Current principle and practice of treatment for cancers of the skin, brain, head and neck, thorax and gastrointestinal tract are emphasized.
Learning Outcomes
- Given a clinical scenario determine the most effective overall treatment plan.
- Determine the most appropriate beam modifiers, immobilization devices and set-up devices to use for cancers of the skin, brain, head, and neck, thorax and gastrointestinal tract given cancer stage, histology, and grade.
- Determine the most appropriate beam energy and doses for cancers of the skin, brain, head and neck, thorax and gastrointestinal tract given stage, histology, and grade.
- Determine the most appropriate treatment techniques and modalities for cancers of the skin, brain, head and neck, thorax and gastrointestinal tract given cancer state, histology, and grade.
- Analyze port films to determine the area being treated and the techniques used for cancers of the skin, brain, head and neck, thorax and gastrointestinal tract.
- Using the natural history of a particular cancer, determine what structures the treatment field should contain for cancers of the skin, brain, head and neck, thorax and gastrointestinal tract.
- Evaluate a given treatment plan to determine appropriateness based on cancer type, stage and grade for cancers of the skin, brain, head and neck, thorax and gastrointestinal tract.
