Course Description

Literary and cultural history and traditions of Spain and Latin America. Examination of historical, social, and political influences on Spanish and Latin American literary movements and cultures. Comparison of Spanish and Latin American cultural traditions, perspectives, products, and practices.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify the major movements, genres, writers, and works in Spanish literature
  • Describe the historical, social, and cultural influences on Spanish literature, as well as the influences of literary movements on culture
  • Analyze and interpret Spanish literary and cultural texts, including an evaluation of the use of language in those texts
