Examines inclusive early childhood programs, strategies for adaptions and accommodations to meet the social, emotional, and academic needs of all children who are at-risk or have special needs.
- Apply knowledge of characteristics of young children with developmental delays and disabilities with implications of cultural and linguistic diversity in ECE practice.
- Analyze current philosophy and educational trends regarding the inclusion of young children with special needs in classrooms and natural settings.
- Examine the legal rights of families and their children with special needs.
- Examine the early childhood educators role as the member of a team in an inclusive classroom to include: least intrusive instructional adaptations and modifications, an ability to work with integrated Individual Education Plans (IEP) goals and maintain ethical and professional practices.
