Course Description

Study of the design and internal control perspectives of accounting information systems, including systems analysis, decision support systems, system implementation, and the audit of management information systems.

Learning Outcomes

  • Analyze and evaluate the organizational structure of the information system function in organizations.
  • Analyze the use of client-server technology, how it applies to electronic financial transactions, and describe various approaches to securing electronic financial transactions.
  • Compare and contrast the role of the accountant and the relationship of systems analysis to systems development during various stages of system development.
  • Evaluate various data storage approaches.
  • Describe and evaluate various types of information systems audits and audit technologies.
  • Communicate course-related information effectively in both written and oral form.
  • Apply computer technology and Internet research to meet business needs.
