Sound Design

Course Description

Covers the role of sound in contemporary filmmaking, including the development of sound design as a part of contemporary cinema and essential aspects of field production audio recording, post-production workflow, studio mixing, audio effects, ADR, music and media asset management.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify and evaluate orally and in writing sound design elements and their effect upon the construction of meaning and contribution to aesthetics in films and video programs.
  • Plan a sound post-production schedule and workflow and select the sound elements, personnel and media elements required.
  • Design a sound track for a short film that utilizes music, dialog and sound effects.
