American Political System
A look into the origins and development of the American political system with special emphasis on aspects of democratic theory and practice, political parties, interest groups, public opinion and political ideology and political economy. Students are encouraged to pursue topics of particular interest.
- Evaluate the theoretical and ideological context of American politics.
- Discuss the evolution of the two-party system, as well as third party challenges to that system.
- Asses the general features of political behavior and political culture, especially within the sphere of party politics.
- Analyze events in the light of various political and economic forces at work in each area.
