Counseling Techniques II
Course Description
An examination of intermediate counseling techniques, including imagery, role-playing, confrontation, and crisis management. Focus is on application of techniques applied to clinical, non-clinical and culturally diverse populations. Students will gain practical experience through in-class demonstrations and role plays. Grading is S or U only.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate skill in using a variety of intermediate counseling techniques through role-playing.
- Demonstrate skill in the application of intermediate techniques to specific problems and situations, including crisis situations, through role playing and in writing.
- Demonstrate awareness of cultural diversity and ability to modify counseling strategies as appropriate with culturally diverse populations through role-playing and class discussions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of intermediate counseling techniques and the rationale for their applications through role-playing, examinations and class discussions.
