The Business of Instruction

Course Description

This course explores the role of the instructor at a golf facility and the best practices of world class instructors. Students will apply business planning strategy and theory in designing a teaching program, recognizing the importance of technological systems that advance the teaching agenda, grant opportunities, and the core competencies of instruction.

  • Articulate a philosophy and approach to teaching and player development.
  • Apply business planning strategies in the design of a teaching program.
  • Critically evaluate technology in instruction and player development.
  • Design a player development program that utilizes a personal teaching philosophy, external funding sources, sound marketing practices, and an analysis of profitability.

Requirements

Students must design a player development program that utilizes a personal teaching philosophy, external funding sources, sound marketing practices, and an analysis of profitability. The paper should be no less than 10 pages and include a literature review and reference section that incorporates major research findings in the field of study.
