Earth Planetary Sciences

Course Description

Covers the geological make-ups and processes that resulted in the present Earth topography. It also examines energy reserves, pollution, ecology, and mineral resources.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the formation of the Universe, our Solar System, and planet Earth
  • Describe how minerals and rocks are formed.
  • Identify geological processes that shape the Earth’s crust.
  • Describe how interactions between Atmosphere, Hydrosphere, and Lithosphere shape Earth’s surface.
  • Draw a geological timeline marking major events such as the appearances of keystone species.
  • Describe the interactions between humans and the Earth through studies in ecology, mineral resources, energy sources, and pollution.
