Intro to Digital Editing

Course Description

Fundamentals of digital video editing. Includes project setup and workspace, media capture and postproduction workflow used by professional digital editing software. Covers types of edits, digital media management, transcoding, and exporting to a variety of media formats for distribution on digital media platforms.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify the editing tools in a digital editing software program.
  • Organize an editing workspace.
  • Summarize the postproduction workflow.
  • Use a digital editing software program to import digital video and audio files, construct short video sequences and export digital movies to a variety of digital codecs appropriate to a variety of media channels.


Students need access to a digital editing software Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects and an external hard drive.
