Impact of Culture Language
Students will develop an understanding of the ways in which cultural, religious and linguistic factors affect countries' choices of educational systems and educational priorities. The main focus of the course is the impact of these factors on education within global, regional and national contexts. Students will compare the impact of these factors on education in selected world regions with their influence on the U.S. educational system and some of the issues they face in classrooms.
- Evaluate the cultural, philosophical, religious and linguistic factors that affect education and educational systems in selected world regions.
- Design educational models illustrating similarities and differences among world educational systems in terms of the cultural, philosophical, religious and linguistic influences.
- Analyze how issues of culture, philosophy, religion and language have impacted US education on national, state and local levels.
- Develop practical solutions to current issues and challenges encountered in the students' school environment.
