Course Description

Focus on authentic informal and formal formal assessments for infants and toddlers, and the use of case study to develop observation skills leading to the promotion of responsive environments.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the value of observation and assessment with infants and toddlers to families and others.
  • Identify focused, intentional and objective observation and assessment techniques with infants and toddlers.
  • Analyze data compiled from observation and assessment including family and other professional sources to assist in the design of individual action plans.
  • Employ appropriate communication skills in involving families in the observation and assessment process.
