Thesis Development

Course Description

MFA candidates work independently with a thesis advisor to develop a story and proposal for a digital cinema short suitable for funding through grants or other sources. This is a 16-week course. For unsatisfactory graded proposal, the course must be repeated. Grading is by H, S, or U only.

Learning Outcomes

  • Devise a preliminary production budget and schedule for a short motion picture project.
  • Generate a coherent creative pitch for a short subject motion picture for potential funders and distributors.
  • Design a proposal package for an original short motion picture, which is significant and complex enough to engage and sustain the interest of a discriminating audience.
