Helping California Students Stay On Track to Graduation

As of March 2, 2020, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is present on every continent except for Antarctica. This strain of the virus has infected almost 90,000 people worldwide, with approximately 90 cases confirmed in the United States. As COVID-19 continues to spread, students across the nation are unable to attend classes due to quarantine, closed schools and campuses, and canceled study abroad programs.

In response, National University and National University Virtual High School are offering three months of free online classes to all California college and high school students impacted by COVID-19. California college students may take up to three classes for all NU asynchronous online programs in April, May, and June 2020. California high school students may take up to three online classes offered by NUVHS in April, May, and June 2020.

A Letter From Our President

In response to global COVID-19 concerns, students nationwide are unable to attend classes due to quarantine, closed schools and campuses, and canceled study abroad programs. As a university that’s committed to providing accessible, achievable education, we want to ensure California students stay healthy and stay on track to graduation.

Starting March 16, 2020, National University and National University Virtual High School are offering three months of free online classes to all California college and high school students impacted by COVID-19. California college students may take up to three classes for all NU asynchronous online programs in April, May, and June 2020. California high school students may take up to three online classes offered by NUVHS in April, May, and June 2020

This effort is aimed at giving students access to high-quality education from an accredited institution, allowing them to earn credits that can be transferred to their institution of choice. These students will also have access to online learning resources and dedicated academic advisors during their three months with NU.

Who is eligible for this offer?

Any California college student who is currently enrolled at an impacted institution within the state of California is eligible. Any California high school student who is currently enrolled at an impacted high school within the state of California is eligible.

How long is this offer available?

The offer is valid for classes in April, May, and June 2020.

How long are courses?

National University courses are one-month long. NUVHS courses are designed to be completed in as little as one month.

How many classes can I take?

National University recommends students take one course per month, but any student with a 3.0 GPA or higher may take up to two classes per month. At National University Virtual High School, students can take up to three college-prep courses.

Are these classes transferable back to my institution?

National University is accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission and has matriculation agreements with many institutions; however, to ensure specific courses are transferable back to a specific institution, please speak to a member of our enrollment team. Courses completed with NUVHS meet California and national standards and can often be transferred from NUVHS to the student’s primary high school for credit. Please speak with a counselor at the primary school to confirm your eligibility

What courses can I take?

California college students may take any online class from National University’s list of asynchronous programs. California high school students may take any online class offered by National University Virtual High School.
