2007-04-09 Dr. Judy Menoher Named ASCA Professor of Education of the Year

Redding, Calif. – Dr. Judy Menoher, assistant professor in the School of Education at National University, has been selected as the state-wide winner of the Professor of Education of the Year Award by the Association of California School Administrators (ASCA), it was announced today.

Dr. Menoher is the lead faculty for the School of Education at National University’s Redding campus. She is an assistant professor in both the Teacher Education and Special Education departments.

“Using her expertise as a former school and district administrator, combined with her skills as a teacher, Dr. Menoher has built a rigorous and exemplary program for her students,” said Dr. Gloria Johnston, Dean of the National University School of Education. “She provides an outstanding example that her colleagues and I deeply admire.”

“Dr. Menoher is creative, deeply conscientious, professional, and hard-working,” said Dr. Jane M. Duckett, Chair of the Department of Special Education at National. “Her student evaluations are the envy of our department, and she has willingly taught some of the most difficult courses in our program. She sets the model for our other faculty to follow.”

The Professor of Education of the Year award is one of 19 presented annually by ASCA in recognition of outstanding performance and the achievements of educators and administrators. In addition to the professor of education, awards are given in the categories of superintendent; secondary principal; middle grades principal; elementary principal; central office administrator  — county/district; secondary co-administrator; elementary co-administrator; classified manager; confidential employee; personnel/human resources administrator; adult education administrator; career technical education administrator; special education administrator; superintendent/principal; business services administrator; pupil personnel administrator; curriculum and instruction administrator; and continuation/educational options administrator.
