Alumna Named President of Fresno City College
Dr. Carole Goldsmith, National University Alumna and current President of West Hills College in Coalinga, California, has been named President of Fresno City College. She was selected for the position out of three finalists.
State Center Community College District (SCCCD) Board President, Richard Caglia, described Goldsmith as a “strong and competent individual,” when announcing her new role, according to Fresno City College’s student-run newspaper. “She has impressive experience as a president who is dedicated to students success,” he added.
Dr. Goldsmith began her new position on August 1, according to a SCCCD news release. With 25 years of higher education experience, Dr. Goldsmith served most recently as Vice Chancellor of Educational Services for the West Hills Community College District and as President of West Hills College.
According to the Fresno Bee, Goldsmith is a first-generation college student from Visalia, California, who earned her bachelor’s degree in History from Fresno State, her master’s in Educational Administration from National University in Fresno, and her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of California, Davis and Fresno State University.
Fresno City College is located in the Tower District of Fresno, with additional campuses at Clovis Community College (in Clovis, California), the Oakhurst Center (serving the Foothill communities), and the Madera Center (across the San Joaquin River in Madera, California). Enrollment is just under 20,500 students.
