Required Exams

The Commission on Teacher Credentialing and National University require certain examinations of credential students.

Students in the Teacher Education Department must pass:

• Language proficiency for entrance to the BCLAD program.
• Subject matter competency prior to student teaching.
• CBEST prior to student teaching.
• The RICA test prior to completion of student teaching.

Students in Special Education must pass:

• Subject matter competency prior to taking any Advanced Specialist courses.
• The generic core examination prior to taking the Advanced Specialist courses.
• CBEST prior to student teaching.
• The RICA test prior to completion of student teaching. 
• The exit exam prior to being recommended for a credential.

Students in all other credential programs must pass:

• CBEST
• The exit exam prior to being recommended for a credential.
