|Course Description: Continued practice experience with expert Administration mentor. Continue to develop Administration competencies, and complete learning contract goals. This course is 200 hours in length. Grading is by S or U only. This course is eligible for an IP grade.
|Course Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate continued development of knowledge, skills, competence, and confidence as an Administrator in a healthcare setting
- Act as a role model, mentor, and change agent in utilizing information resources and evidence-based research data to improve outcomes of care.
- Identify health care needs of individuals or aggregate groups.
- Ensure organizational and system compliance with agency and nursing practice quality and safety standards, federal labor laws, and organizational and governmental policies.
- Integrate bioethical and legal considerations into clinical and management decision-making.
- Demonstrate financial management skills,including: developing, analyzing, and managing operating budgets and long-term capital expenditures; identifying alternate funding strategies; participating in internal audits; and taking action when opportunities exist to adjust operations to respond to environmental economic changes.
- Provide leadership in human resource management, including workforce planning, work flow design, and employment decisions.
- Design healthcare delivery systems to meet unmet health care needs.
- Evaluate health care delivery systems and outcomes of care.

Doctor of Nursing Practice
- Advocate for culturally sensitive health care systems and policies that meet ethical and legal standards in order to reduce health disparities.
- Analyze the impact of national and global health policy on the cost, quality, and accessibility of health care for diverse patient populations.
- Base decisions on synthesis of information from meta-analysis and other research reports, benchmark data, best practices reports, and other credible information sources.
- Establish and lead collaborative, multidisciplinary teams that provide the range of expertise required in healthcare systems delivering care to complex, multi-need patients, families and communities.
- Generate innovative practices, systems, and prevention programs at the patient, family, organization, community, and population levels for the purpose of improving health care outcomes.
- Identify sources of variations in health care outcomes through analysis and integration of research findings, empirical evidence, and/or practitioner reflections on practice.
- Lead healthcare systems in the delivery of high quality, safe, patient-centered care.

Writing Across the Curriculum:
Students are expected to demonstrate writing skills in describing, analyzing and evaluating ideas and experiences. Plagiarism is the presentation of someone else's ideas or work as one's own. Students must give credit for any information that is not either the result of original research or common knowledge. Ethical behavior in the classroom is required of every student. The course will identify ethical policies and practices relevant to course topics.
Students are expected to be competent in using current technology appropriate for this discipline. Such technology may include word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Use of the internet and e-mail may also be required.
