Course Description

Focuses on the cognitive, social, and emotional development of children from both theoretical and practical perspective. This course includes an introduction to learning theory and practice and its relationship to student achievement and motivation.

Learning Outcomes

  • Knowledge: To recognize and define foundational concepts of various development and learning theories.
  • Skills: To analyze and constructively criticize theoretical components relative to individual differences, social contexts, and cultural influences. To apply various theoretical approaches based on the needs of the individual or group of learners.
  • Disposition: To determine the overall usefulness of a particular theory in a specific context-based on the needs of the students candidates teach.
