EXC603A Supervised Teaching Seminar
Course Description
An eight week class taken concurrently with supervised teaching that integrates theory and practical approaches to real-life situations. Content includes portfolio preparation, expectations for a beginning teacher, collaboration, and legal and ethical issues related to special education. Grading is S or U only.

- Demonstrate and describe their ability to use and understand the six California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP).
- Demonstrate and describe their ability to develop, implement, analyze, and present evidence-based teaching strategies.
- Describe the required skills needed to successfully supervise paraprofessional educators.
- Describe the classroom management and leadership skills needed to be a successful special education teacher.
- Describe the required skills needed by special education teachers to successfully collaborate with families and other professionals.
- Present a Professional Portfolio that complies with the requirements for Level I credential candidates.
