DHH608I Student Teaching for Interns
Course Description
This course is designed to provide a final evaluation and assessment of the National University teacher intern that takes place at the end of the internship. Interns will be registered for this course for a minimum of six months during which time they will receive support and supervision. Grading is S or U only.

- Effective communication, signed and spoken, with all types of deaf, hard of hearing and deaf special needs learners.
- Ongoing, observational assessment of DHH learners.
- Cognitively, communicatively and culturally appropriate lesson planning.
- Effective implementation of motivational lessons.
- Effective communication and collaboration with professionals, paraprofessionals and volunteers in a variety of educational settings.
- Effective communication with deaf learners and their families.
- Participation in school site meetings, including IEPs and professional growth seminars.
- Adaptations and accommodations for special needs.
- Use of technology, including augmentative communication devices.
