|Course Description: Introduction to public school finance policies and practices, emphasizing site level finance. Exploration of federal, state, and local revenue sources, district and school budgeting, and financial management procedures. Introduction to public school budgeting and accounting procedures. Direction by practicing school administrators when investigating issues in public school finance.
|Course Learning Outcomes:
- Evaluate the resources necessary for a productive school environment that nurtures student learning and supports the professional growth of teachers and support staff.
- Analyze resources that are necessary for establishing student behavior management systems.
- Develop a school budget that uses technology to align fiscal, human, and material resources to support the learning of all subgroups of students.
- Synthesize leadership strategies for making and communicating financial and budgetary decisions based on relevant data and research about effective teaching and learning, leadership, management practices, and equity.

- Acquire knowledge and develop skills associated with restructuring organizations, mobilizing of human and fiscal resources, and creating a school environment that identifies
institutional needs for diversity
- Analyze aspects of professional and personal ethics that are conducive to leading a school or school system.
- Analyze the larger political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context that impacts a school or school district.
- Analyze the organization, operations, and resources necessary to foster a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.
- Apply landmark court cases, legislation, federal and state regulations governing student rights, due process, delivery of instruction, and general operation of school districts.
- Build consensus among stake-holders, evaluate, analyze and develop new school programs and paradigms
- Create a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.
- Develop a school culture conducive to student learning and staff professional growth.
- Develop an ethical framework for effective educational leadership.
- Evaluate aspects of professional and personal ethics that are conducive to leading a school or school system.
- Examine the total operation of personnel and school management functions and staff development, which includes personnel management and administration, personnel relations, personnel laws, and collective bargaining.
- Possess the necessary skills to become successful practicing school administrator.
- Provide candidates with the research base for reflective educational decision making.

Plagiarism is the presentation of someone else's ideas or work as one's own. Students must give credit for any information that is not either the result of original research or common knowledge. Ethical behavior in the classroom is required of every student. The course will identify ethical policies and practices relevant to course topics.
Students are expected to be competent in using current technology appropriate for this discipline. Such technology may include word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Use of the internet and e-mail may also be required.
