Commencement Day Information

10:00 a.m. Morning School Ceremony

12:30 p.m. Full University Ceremony
   Presidential Address and Keynote Speaker
2:00 p.m. Afternoon School Ceremony
   School of Professional Studies
   School of Health and Human Services

Graduates can find their school in the ticket database when they request their tickets.

Check in begins two hours before each ceremony. If you are in the Morning School Ceremony you will check in at 8 a.m. If you are in the Afternoon School Ceremony you will need to check in at 10 a.m. to be able to participate in the Full University Ceremony, then the Afternoon School Ceremony will follow immediately after.

The Morning School Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. graduates participating in this ceremony must arrive by 8 a.m. and enter through the Palm Court/Gaslamp Gate. The Morning School Ceremony will end approximately at 12 p.m.

The Full University Ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. and will include an address by the guest speaker. This ceremony will involve all graduates from all schools. Graduates who are participating in the Afternoon School Ceremony should check in at the Palm Court/Gaslamp Gate by 10 a.m. Graduates who participated in the Morning School Ceremony will be dismissed after the Full University Ceremony.

The Afternoon School Ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. or immediately following the Full University Ceremony and will end approximately at 4 p.m.

Please allow additional time after the ceremony to exit Petco Park and for heavy traffic. If you make reservations we recommend 6 p.m. or later.

Graduates will cross the stage and receive a certificate of participation during their school ceremony. Your actual diploma will be mailed to you after the official conferral date.

If you are an Associate or Bachelor student with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, or a Master student with a 3.85 GPA or higher at the time of commencement, you are eligible to wear a gold tassel. Please exchange your black tassel for a gold tassel the day of the ceremony in the student Check – In Area.

Things to Bring With You the Day of the Ceremony
• Ensure that guests and graduates have printed tickets to enter Petco Park.
• Maps and parking information, print the map of entrances to Petco Park provided in the Related Download section on this page. Print copies for your guests as well.
• Master Students: cap, ironed gown, tassel, hood.
• Associate/Bachelor Students: cap, ironed gown, tassel, and stole.
• Bring cash for parking, rates vary by lot.
