Course Description
This program is designed to ensure the development of safe and effective exercise programs for women by personal trainers, allied health/medical and fitness professionals, and the general public. The program prepares graduating students for a career working with women of all ages at medically-based fitness facilities, YMCA/JCC’s, community wellness programs, personal training studios, physical therapy clinics, health promotion sites, corporate sites, and private and commercial health clubs. 200 hours.
Upon successful completion, students will:
- Understand key terminology used to describe body parts and reference positions
- Explore the physiology of the endocrine system
- Learn ACSM guidelines and recommendations for creating an exercise prescription
- Learn how to set goals and objectives for apparently healthy women
- Learn what conditions make the female athlete triad and understand common signs and symptoms
- Review the Medical Fitness Model: Facility Standards & Guidelines published by the Medical Fitness Association (MFA) organization
- Learn how medical professionals can better the fitness profession
- Understand the medically-based fitness model
