HSCX1903X Women's Exercise Training/Wellness

Course Description

This program is designed to ensure the development of safe and effective exercise programs for women by personal trainers, allied health/medical and fitness professionals, and the general public. The program prepares graduating students for a career working with women of all ages at medically-based fitness facilities, YMCA/JCC’s, community wellness programs, personal training studios, physical therapy clinics, health promotion sites, corporate sites, and private and commercial health clubs. 200 hours.

Upon successful completion, students will:

  • Understand key terminology used to describe body parts and reference positions
  • Explore the physiology of the endocrine system
  • Learn ACSM guidelines and recommendations for creating an exercise prescription
  • Learn how to set goals and objectives for apparently healthy women
  • Learn what conditions make the female athlete triad and understand common signs and symptoms
  • Review the Medical Fitness Model: Facility Standards & Guidelines published by the Medical Fitness Association (MFA) organization
  • Learn how medical professionals can better the fitness profession
  • Understand the medically-based fitness model
