EDX1940X Reading Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA)

Lead Faculty:

Course Description

California Education Code requires that all candidates for initial preliminary of professional clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credentials who do not complete all current credential requirements prior to October 1,1998, pass the Reading Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA).

The RICA consists of two separate assessments.  The focus of this preparatory course will be on the RICA Written Examination.

The course will brief students on question types and formats on the written exam and will provide helpful techniques for successfully answering multiple choice and constructed response questions.  Students will build confidence by learning proven test-taking strategies, what to study and how to study.

All courses have been created and will be taught by credentialed, subject-matter experts who are personally committed to your success on the RICA! All courses are taught online one month prior to a RICA test offering and run for four weeks.

*The text for this course is "Study Guide for the Revised RICA", by Marilyn Dye. It is available for purchase at www.nutextdirect.com. The course subject and catalog number are EDX 1940X.
